Makosi and Nadia were evicted from Ultimate Big Brother on Friday.  Vanessa Feltz joined the house, and she barely had time to take off her coat before being put up for evictionMichelle & Nick also face the vote for a double eviction on Wednesday.  The queen of chat is odds on favourite to go tomorrow, as could Michelle.

Sentiment expressed towards nominated housemates – 6/9 to 7/9

Topic cloud for the Ultimate Big Brother discussion– 4/9 to 7/9

Who will win Brian is the red hot favourite with the bookies at 4/11 with Chantelle in second spot at 7/2.  As you can see the other big topic is Preston and viewers are holding their collective breath to see if there’s any chance he will get back together with Chantelle. Meanwhile, Davina McCall will enter the house as a ‘guest’ housemate for the day sometime before the finale.

So, what’ll happen after Friday and is it really the end?  Well, there’s a buzz that the show could move to Channel Five.

BB12 anyone?

Josie didn’t have to pack her suitcase for Friday night’s eviction because she had a free pass to tonight’s Big Brother final. It looks like she won’t have to pack up this evening either and will stay put for the Ultimate show as series 11 winner.

John James, Steve, Sam and Corin were all evicted in Friday’s semi-final.  This caused a bit of stir with criticism that the ‘boring’ housemates (except Josie) have made it to the final.  The show’s producer Endemol has been under a bit of fire for asking viewers ‘to evict’ housemates which, it’s been claimed, meant the public was more driven to vote out the stronger personalities.  It could well have been a different line-up if the vote had been ‘to win’.

Layla Anna-Lee on the OK! blog posted: ‘Our Twitter went nuts last night and Big Brother forums all round took a big hit  … in my view, Sam Pepper would have still been in and, of course Corin – two of the most entertaining housemates of all time’. (OK! 21/8)

Anyhow, Josie, Mario, Andrew, Dave and JJ are battling it out to win tonight.  A quick look at the sentiment analysis for all five shows Josie is almost in a league of her own and is still the bookie’s favourite to win at 1/10. Mario is at 9/1, Dave 10/1, Andrew 18/1 and JJ is the outsider at 40/1.

Celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford has been in the house to give them all haircuts as part of their ‘Perfect Day’ on Sunday, which started off with breakfast in bed from Anthea Turner and included a meal cooked by Nancy Lam.

And, what’s the news on the Ultimate series?  Sam fans have started a Twitter campaign to get him back for the show.  Will Endemol bow to the power of the people?

Sam’s new Twitter account has also created a real buzz and 30,000 followers have signed up to his new account since Saturday night.  John James has 20,000.  Sam has more followers than previous winners Sophie Reade and Brian Belo.

Anyway, first things first, the final’s tonight and it looks like Josie will win BB 11.

Ben was evictedSam became a housemateJedward played a live set in the garden.  Davina McCall presented part of her live show from the house.  An average Friday night in Big Brother land.  Oh, and on Thursday, Laura became the third girl to walk out of the back door.

The Jedward and Davina stunt was all part of an ‘Ignore the Obvious’ task for the weekly shopping budget, where loads of random people went into the house and got up to all kinds of shenanigans.

So, that’s seven lines on Big Brother and no mention of John James and Josie.  And, the good news?  The two seem to have become love birds at last.  But, Sam has been the biggest doubter so far, with questions for them both on what’s been going on and he then mentioned the ‘m’ word – magazine (deal).  That caused another row with Josie.  The consensus in the house was the relationship was real.

Figure 1: Topic cloud for the Big Brother conversation – 28/7 to 3/7

For the gazzillionth week running, John James has been the lead topic in the Big Brother conversation.  But, Corin has held on her own as the bookies’ favourite to win at 6/4 with John James and Josie hot on her heels.

Figure 2: Sentiment expressed towards favourites to win – 28/7 to 3/8

A quick look at the sentiment analysis for the three front runners showed that although John James and Josie have had the biggest buzz, Corin has had the highest number of positive mentions (68.5%) and the least number of negative mentions (6.8%).

And, who will go this week? John James, Rachel and Mario were put up by the house.  But, Mario saved himself in the ‘Save & Replace’ task and put Dave up instead.  On balance, it looks like Rachel could go.

There was no eviction last Friday, so to keep the Big Brother audience happy, three new housemates joined the house – Jo, Laura and JJ.   This was after Andrew and Corin mumbled / sang / mimed / ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’ from Dirty Dancing to the live audience standing outside the house.

The performance was the final bit of a Glee-style task for the shopping budget.  It was choreographed by temporary housemate Andrew Stone from Pineapple Dance Studios.

A quick look at the buzz volumes for the most-talked about housemates showed John James led the boys and Josie the girls.

Figure 2: Girls buzz volumes – 21/7 to 27/7

The John James / Josie ‘he likes her – she likes him’ carry on – well carried on – in a non-committal kind of way.  As Caiomhe had walked out last week – the love triangle was squared for a moment – then JJ was added to the mix.  On Monday, the tension between the two bubbled over and after an ‘exchange’ of words’ John James tried to leave the house by the fire exit.  The production crew persuaded him to stay.  Then love finally struck – for now.

There’s definitely been a bit of John James / Josie fever in social media.  But Corin is the new bookie’s favourite to win at 2/1.

There’s also been a buzz around the start of the ‘Ultimate Champion’ series which will start after the finale of this series.  Chantelle and Preston have been touted as potentials to join previous ‘uber’ housemates to find the ultimate winner.  (Big Brother Blog 27/7)

So, back to this years’ housemates who nominated Ben, Steve and John-James for eviction on Friday.  Dave was added to the list for breaking the rules on discussing nominations.  Steve won the ‘Save & Replace’ task and put up Andrew, who last week was one of the bookies’ favourites to win.  But the tide may be turning. Davina McCall told the BB website: “I think he’s tricky. I think he’s got a gameplan. His whole thing recently, he always does the thing that will win him the popular vote.”  (Digital Spy 26/7)

Figure 4: Sentiment expressed towards nominated housemates – 21/7 to 27/7

Ben is the bookies favourite to go at 4/7. Looking at the sentiment analysis it will be a close run thing and Dave could be the curve ball this week and be voted out.

Roll up. Roll up.

Roll up for the circus was the clarion call of Big Brother (BB) producers Endemol as the final series of BB kicked off last Wednesday.  Thirteen housemates and a ‘mole’ entered the house and we were off.  Shabby, Caoimhe, Ife, Corin, Rachael, Sunshine, Louise, Steve, John-James, Ben, Nathan, Govan, Dave & Mario the mole were in.

So, we joined the conversation around the online watercooler to bring you a 360-analysis of all the goings on in the house, the nominations & evictions, the twists & turns, who’s saying what, why and where.

Over the first few days all the housemates began to ‘bond’.  All was quiet in the state of Endemol.

But, all circuses have a ringmaster and Big Brother set wild-card hopeful Mario, now called Moley, a secret, ‘impossible’, task to sabotage the house until Saturday.  He wasn’t ‘officially’ rumbled by the others and was allowed to stay as a bona-fide housemate – with all the usual trappings: rows, conspiracies and a love interest.

So, where was everyone talking about BB?  A quick look at the channel breakdown showed all the noise was on Twitter with a 73.8 per cent share of voice.  In terms of authority, our social media measurement system scored Yahoo! Answers highest with a 62.6 per cent share of voice.

The buzz was around Sunshine and Mario over the course of the first week.  We also ran a snapshot of the Big Brother discussion in online news and social media for the hot topics.

The stand-out topic was John-James, the bookies early favourite to win. The tweet below gave us a bit of clue about his early popularity.

Fast forward to Monday – nominations day.  The annual love-in between all the housemates came to its traditional early end.  Six days was a long time in reality TV and the honeymoon period was well and truly over.  The first row erupted between Dave and Govan – over some onions.  A right old ding dong followed.

On Tuesday, there was a nominations twist which created another buzz in the tweetstream.  First off, Shabby, Sunshine & Dave were put up for eviction by the house.  But, Dave beat the other two in a challenge, saved himself, and put Rachael up instead.  Shabby was agitated about her nomination and had a bust-up with Ben.

Who’s likely to go?

Figure 5: Sentiment for nominated housemates – 15/6

Yesterday, Sunshine was the most talked about.  She also had the highest number of negative mentions – mainly calls to get her out.  But, there were also reports that she was being bullied by the other housemates. (Daily Star 15/6)

Shabby was the bookie’s favourite to go at 8/15.  But, where we’re predicting Rachael.
